Happy Thanksgiving! November 2015 Update

Dear friend,

This week marks a Christian holiday that figures prominently in America’s history – Thanksgiving Day.  Celebrations typically include family gatherings and feasting.  For some the day is bittersweet due to loved ones who have passed away since the last gathering.  The past few weeks my heart has been filled with a familiar song of praise from King David of Israel:

Oh give thanks to the Lord, call upon His name;
Make known His deeds among the peoples.
Sing to Him, sing praises to Him;
Speak of all His wonders.
Glory in His holy name;
Let the heart of those who seek the Lord be glad.
(1 Chronicles 16:8-10)

Let us follow the example of our nation’s forefathers and focus our Thanksgiving on the One who deserves our thanks and praise – God our Creator who has blessed us with life and liberty.

And as we sing praises and seek the Lord Jesus Christ let our hearts be glad this Thanksgiving.  I recommend Andrée Seu Peterson’s Thanksgiving Perfection and Al Mohler’s recent Thanksgiving questions to read, ponder, and share with family and friends.

With a heart of thanksgiving,

Ricardo Davis
State Chairman

Washington’s 1789 Thanksgiving Proclamation

Holidays are a great time for families to remember – most importantly remember why we celebrate.  Thanksgiving offers the opportunity to remember those first American celebrations, to remind us and our children of our nation’s spiritual foundation and to stir our hearts to keep faith.  To that end let us consider and ponder George Washington’s 1789 Thanksgiving Proclamation.

By the President of the United States of America, a Proclamation.

Whereas it is the duty of all nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey His will, to be grateful for His benefits, and humbly to implore His protection and favor; and—Whereas both Houses of Congress have, by their joint committee, requested me “to recommend to the people of the United States a day of public thanksgiving and prayer, to be observed by acknowledging with grateful hearts the many and signal favors of Almighty God, especially by affording them an opportunity peaceably to establish a form of government for their safety and happiness:”

Now, therefore, I do recommend and assign Thursday, the 26th day of November next, to be devoted by the people of these States to the service of that great and glorious Being who is the beneficent author of all the good that was, that is, or that will be; that we may then all unite in rendering unto Him our sincere and humble thanks for His kind care and protection of the people of this country previous to their becoming a nation; (read more...)

Party Building:  Fundraising and Membership Updates

One reason the CP-Ga is thankful this season is for the generosity of our supporters.  Last month we sent an appeal to help with our Website Upgrade Moneybomb fundraiser to fund the move of our party’s management infrastructure to NationBuilder.com.  The new GAConstitutionParty.org is more than just another website; it will increase the productivity of our activists by providing a constituent management platform while consolidating other services and thus decreasing our operational costs.  The platform is built with a mobile-responsive design, which means you can now use our website effectively from your smart phone or tablet computer.  And social media is a core part of the platform, which means party communications via Facebook and Twitter can be managed from the same place.

Seeing this cost-saving opportunity the Party launched the Moneybomb, and fundraising goal of $600 was met thanks to your generosity.  As providential benefit the CP-Ga was able to take advantage of a special offer to lock in NationBuilder pricing for two years at a savings of 81% compared to the current rates through September 2017!

Friend, the 2016 election cycle is around the corner and the CP-Ga is preparing to expand its grassroots base to focus on training activists, electing local candidates and competing in select state legislative races.  For the CP-Ga to start 2016 strong we need every supporter receiving this email to do one or more of the following:

  1. If you are not currently a member or your membership has lapsed, please become a member today!
  2. If you have a business then consider a year-end donation of funds or in-kind services.  Call Ricardo Davis at (404) 620-2440 today!
  3. If you are a current member or do not meet conditions 1 or 3 for party membership but want to help the CP-Ga achieve its goals then give an end-of-year donation today!  Note that under current state law donations for party building purposes are not limited; cumulative donations under $100 a year are not reported to the state.

In the state of Georgia voters do not register by political party, so party membership requirements are set by each party.  By the way Georgia has open primary elections – a member of a political party may vote in any primary they chose.  And voting in a party’s primary does not make the voter a member of that political party.

Friend, your support helps advance the cause of Christ’s righteousness in our civil government for the good of all people.  It helps fund the party’s communications and outreach efforts.  It is your vote in support of those principles you believe in and want to see established in your community.

Local Events Around the State

The CP-Ga will either host or support a number of activities around the state over the next three months.  More information on these events and how to RSVP can be found in the Events section of the CP-Ga web site.

Elections Update:  Ballot Access Lawsuit Update

The lawsuit against the State of Georgia that the CP-Ga and the Georgia Green Party filed is still working its way through the federal courts.  The objective in this case is to remove the ballot access restrictions for the 2016 Presidential race similar to what was accomplished in Florida and Tennessee.  We are thankful for the efforts of Elections Director Garland Favorito and the legal team members Laughlin McDonald, Mike Raffauf, and Richard Winger.  Please keep this matter in your prayers.

With a vision of victory,

Your fellow patriots at the Constitution Party of Georgia
