ATLANTA, GA – The Constitution Party of Georgia stands with Alabama Supreme Court Chief Justice Roy S. Moore in his actions to uphold the rule of law by calling Federal District Judge Granade’s legal bluff.
State Chairman Ricardo Davis noted, “Moore’s publicly available letter to the Probate Judges was a straightforward and readable explanation of Granade’s actions and the law related to the Probate Judge. The bottom line: Granade’s order and subsequent clarification did not direct the state officials who are charged with the responsibility of issuing marriage licenses to do anything. The injunction only applies to the sole defendant in the case, the Alabama Attorney General.”
Disgusted with those who equate Moore’s actions to former Governor George Wallace’s actions in 1963 to block integration Davis remarked, “on the contrary the so-called Equality Lobby is fomenting a less violent resurgence of Jim Crow-styled resistance. In my grandfathers’ day attempts of black men to assert their God-given right of freedom of speech were shut down with prejudiced courts and the lynch mob. The Equality Lobby today threatens the disagreeable black man with prejudiced courts that ignore the rule of law, public defamation and retaliation, and attack-dog lawyers using legal action to bankrupt. If you don’t believe me then just ask former Atlanta Fire Chief Kelvin Cochran. This black man stands with Cochran.”
In the early days of our nation civil and community leaders would call the people to prayer in times of trouble. “This should be the Christian’s first response to civil injustice – prayer to the Righteous Judge of all peoples. I encourage every Christian leader to follow suit, first confessing our sins that contributed to the cultural darkness overtaking our land; then resolving to lead with wisdom, prudence, and humility in addressing the many facets of the problem” Davis commented.
The Platform of the Constitution Party of Georgia opposes “legislation that restricts the right to express the Biblical position on homosexuality.” Davis opined that the delegates’ intent would apply to what happened to Cochran. The Constitution Party of Georgia calls upon all Georgians who agree to join them in raising up more men like Cochran and Moore who will stand for Truth regardless of the consequences.
