If we consult the Creator of the institution of marriage – the same Creator our Founding Forefathers appealed to in the Declaration of Independence – He provides a concise definition of what marriage is and who can enter into it. In Matthew 19 the Lord Jesus Christ stated, “Have you not read that He who made them at the beginning ‘made them male and female,’ and said, ‘For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh?’ So then, they are no longer two but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let not man separate.”Those who would legislate immorality from the judge’s bench have rejected this absolute standard. In response to their lawlessness the people of Georgia are well within their God-given rights to amend their state’s constitution to reflect the divine prescription for marriage. Therefore the Constitution Party of Georgia stands in support of Senate Resolution 595 and we encourage every citizen to contact their state representative today and urge them to vote for this legislation. But the amendment we discuss today is incomplete to address our plight unless we deal decisively with judges who exceed their role and legislate sexual perversion by decree. At the federal level a marriage amendment is unwise; what is needed is the Constitution Restoration Act of 2004 (S. 2082), which was introduced last week and co-sponsored by Senator Zell Miller. This legislation strikes at the heart of the matter when it states, “In interpreting and applying the Constitution of the United States, a court of the United States may not rely upon any constitution, law, administrative rule, Executive order, directive, policy, judicial decision, or any other action of any foreign state or international organization or agency, other than the constitutional law and English common law.” The legislation makes clear that impeachment and conviction are the appropriate deterrents for radical judges who play the role of legislator with regard to marriage at the bidding of the immoral minority. The Constitution Party of Georgia calls upon all citizens to urge their federal legislators to support the Constitution Restoration Act of 2004 and once enacted into law hold these legislators accountable to impeach and remove from office any rogue judge who would defy the Constitution.##
