Constitution Party Of Pennsylvania To Host "Ten Commandments" Judge, Alan Keyes At Conference January 24
Middletown, PA - Citing the need to re-introduce fundamental legal principles to the American people, the Constitution Party of Pennsylvania has announced that it will be hosting Alabama Supreme Court Chief Justice Roy Moore and former UN Ambassador Alan Keyes at its Biblical Foundations of American Law Conference, which will be held on Saturday, January 24, in Lancaster.
"There are no two more brilliant men in the United States today than Justice Moore and Ambassador Keyes," said Jeff Rhine, chairman of the Constitution Party of Pennsylvania. "Both men are driven not only by their convictions but they also back up what they think and what they believe with facts and principles that strike a cord with everyone who hears them."
Moore - who has come to be known as 'The Ten Commandments Judge' - has become a icon among political and social conservatives due to his refusal to obey a federal court order to remove a monument of the Ten Commandments that he erected in the Alabama Supreme Court rotunda, setting off a national firestorm of debate over the federal judiciary and its powers.
Keyes - who is recognized as perhaps the nation's greatest modern orator - was twice a Republican candidate for the presidency, and has been an ardent defender and supporter of Moore's since the controversy in Alabama first began.
Rhine said that the combined presence of both Moore and Keyes should help to highlight the issues that the non-partisan conference is intended to address.
"We want the people who attend the conference to understand two things," Rhine said. "First, we want them to understand that the American system of law was heavily influence by the Judeo-Christian tradition at the behest of our Founding Fathers.
"That's not to say that they established an American theocracy but that the nature of our laws is naturally intended to incline our hearts and minds to principles and ideals that do have an origin that is religious," he said.
The second thing the conference is to instill upon attendees is an understanding of the limited powers that the federal Constitution granted to the federal courts, and that those same courts are accountable to Congress for their actions and behavior.
Rhine said that in addition to Moore and Keyes, Howard Phillips of the Conservative Caucus and Michael Peroutka of the Institute on the Constitution have also been invited to attend the conference.
"We're hoping to have all four men available for a panel discussion during the course of the conference," Rhine said. "That alone will be an incredible experience, having four of the greatest conservative minds together at one place, at one time."
Jim Clymer, chairman of the Constitution Party National Committee and a resident of Lancaster County, said that he is excited about the prospects of having Moore and Keyes come to the midstate.
"Even though they have different styles, both Justice Moore and Ambassador Keyes are incredible speakers and have a way of drawing an audience into their hearts and minds," he said.
The Biblical Foundations of American Law conference is scheduled to take place during the afternoon of Saturday, January 24, and will be followed by a formal banquet at which both Moore and Keyes will be speaking. Both the conference and the banquet are scheduled to be held at the Lancaster Host Resort in Lancaster.
The cost of the conference is $25 per person and the cost of the banquet is $50 per person. A special package rate of $65 for both the conference and the banquet is available. Private reception tickets are available for $125 but space is limited. Hotel Rooms are available at the rate of $79 per night.
