Dear Friends,
Beyond the "life" affirming contentions that weigh most heavily to me in the Schiavo case, there is a huge mount of testimony and evidence that make the Terri Schiavo ruling from Judge Greer in Florida contrary to what proper justice demands. It seems that many who advocate "death with dignity" in this case are either unknowledgable of, or are unwilling to comment on the long list of testimonies and evidence that contradicts the contentions that:
1) Michael Schiavo knew in advance what Terri's wishes clearly were if she was to ever need life support.
-and-
2) Michael Schiavo's intentions as legal guardian were/are in light of the best interests of his ward.
-and-
3) Terri Schiavo is in a "persistant vegetative state" the condiction of which clinically means that she is in no way able to respond or willfully interact with anyone or to anything.
I challenge those who hold the "right to die" or "I wouldn't want to live like that" mindset to set aside their biases for a few minutes and go and read the testimony of the following people, some of whom are professional caregivers:
Trudy Capone
Formerly close to Michael and caregiver of Terri, now an LPN (or RN?). Contends that Michael told me many times he had no idea what to do about Terri and that they never talked about it. Also speaks of his personality traits.
Cynthia Shook (now Cynthia Brasher)
Michael Schiavo's "girlfriend" during the time he was testifying to a jury quoting his wedding vows and how serious they were to him. Also testifies he told her he never talked to Terri about this type of thing and that he had no idea what she wanted. Also claims she was stalked by Michael after their breakup. Only testified when subpoenaed due to fear of Micahel Schiavo.
Cynthia Shook Phone Conversation with Bobby Schindler
Says Shook said she would not come forward because "Michael is insane" and the no one could guarantee the safety of her and/or her children from Michael "you have NO IDEA who your are dealing with", she said.
Cynthia Shook radio interview excerpt
Says Terri would cry when Michael got ready to leave the nursing home, but he would say to Cynthia, "she has ruined years of my life, and she has taken all this time, and all, and, and upset my life with this, this is all her fault"
Jackie Rhodes - Terri's best friend at the time of her collapse
Says Michaerl and Terri were talking about getting a divorce and that there was a lot of mental abuse form Michael and that he was obsessively controlling every move and place Terri went, even logging miles she put on the car. Also testified that Micahel and terri got into a big fight some time before her collapse over her spending $80 on having her hair colored, etc. at a salon.
Carla Ayer - Nurse who cared for Terri at Palm Garden-Largo
Says Michael acted obsessively and controllingly with staff and spoke to her about his wanting Terri to die relating to his getting money and more.
